Water Resources

College or University: University of Georgia

Type of degree: Certificate-Bachelors degree not required

Brief overview of program: The Water Resources Certificate Program prepares students for related careers in environmental science and management. Protecting the long-term ecologic health of our rivers and streams is an important national goal. Yet our society has ever-increasing demands for inexpensive supplies of high-quality water. The purpose of the program is to train students to manage our scarce water resources for the maximum benefit of the world's population, while at the same time preserving the ecologic integrity of our aquatic resources.

For the students that enter the workforce, what are the most common occupations that they pursue with this degree or certificate? Water Resource careers combine monitoring of environmental systems with sustainable resource management. Employment opportunities are growing. Positions are increasing rapidly with local, state, and federal agencies as well as with private sector and non-governmental organizations. One reward of a water resources career is having the outdoors as your office.
